Race Ramp FAQ

What is a Race Ramp?

Race Ramps are high quality, durable and lightweight ramps for maintaining, loading, storing or exhibiting your vehicle. They are made in the USA and allow you to get your car off the ground in the fastest, quickest and safest possible manner. Race Ramps have been featured in the ‘Top New Products’ section of many highly-rated magazines such as ‘Car and Driver’, ‘Road and Track’ and ‘Motor Trend’.

Practically indestructible, extremely lightweight, super versatile: so many reasons to Race Ramp for your vehicle. We designed a unique construction, making sure your ramps don’t slide across your garage floor, dig into you asphalt driveway or damage your cement, wooden or painted floor. Grass, sand, tiles, there’s no flat surface where you can’t use your ramps. Handy straps make sure you can easily carry and store your ramps, which weigh only around 7 kilograms each, anywhere. No more back pain!

Your Race Ramp is made out of a high density ‘space age’ foam,  they will not corrode by rust or rot as does happen to more straightforward alternatives such as wood and steel. You don’t want to see your vehicle moving while working with ramps. Wood and steel alternatives can slip or break in use. Race Ramps will securely hold your vehicle, guaranteeing you maximum safety.

How do I know if the ramp is the right size for me?

Race Ramps come in all different shapes and sizes to make sure we have the right solution for you. We are aware that this may also cause some confusion. If you are not sure which product is the best for your application, do contact us. We will be more than happy to give you advice, tailored for you and your vehicle.

How should I care for my Race Ramps?

1.  Ffollow the weight capacity guidelines. The exact capacity is at the bottom of your ramp. For most Race Ramps there will be a maximum of 700 kilograms or 1,500 pounds per ramp (or per tire).

2.  Use your ramps on a hard surface and make sure the area is clean first. Rocks and debris can cause the ramps to slide and may cause permanent denting or pitting on the underside.

3.  Make sure you center your tires on the ramp and don’t drive past the end. Portions of the ramp may be crushed if you drive over the front or side edges.

A slight tire impression of up to 3 mm or 1/8” on the surface of the ramp after initial use however is normal. This is caused by the vehicle tire weight settling the inner core of the ramps and does not affect the strength of the ramp.

4.  Always keep your ramps in temperatures below 65° Celsius or 150° Fahrenheit. Make sure they don’t stay in direct sunlight for an extended period of time or in your trunk on a hot summer day.

5.  Don’t use wood, metal or other materials with our ramps. Contact us if you are having any issues using our ramps or if you have any additional questions. If you take care of your ramps in the right way, you will keep them working for you for decades to come.

How do I clean my Ramps?

You can easily wash your ramps with a scrub brush, soap and water. If you’re on the road, spray WD-40 on and wipe it off with a clean rag.

Spilled some automotive fluids on your ramps? No worries, our Race Ramps are impervious to most of those. Some automotive fluids may leave a stain on the surface – just consider them cool road scars.

Do you have more questions about cleaning your ramps? Don’t hesitate to contact us.

Can I use my Ramps outdoors?

Absolutely, Race Ramps can be used indoors or outdoors as long as the surface temperature of the ramps does not exceed  65° Celsius or 150° Fahrenheit. When using Race Ramps outside, avoid exposing them to direct sunlight for a long period of time. In very hot climates, do not store them outside or in the trunk of your car.

Never use Race Ramps, be it indoors or outdoors, to bridge a gap. Your ramps are designed for use on a flat surface solely. The indicated weight capacity – and therefor your own safety – can only be guaranteed when the entire bottom of the ramp is supported by solid ground.

Where are Race Ramps made?

All of Race Ramps are made in the USA. Almost all products are made by hand at the headquarters in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

My Ramps have a slight tire impression after use. Is this normal?

Absolutely! The initial use may leave a slight impression up to 3 mm on the surface of the ramp. This is caused by the vehicle tire weight settling the inner core of the ramps and does not affect the strength of the ramp.

Do I have to worry about getting automotive fluids on my ramps?

Nope!

Race Ramps are impervious to most automotive fluids. However, some fluids may leave a stain on the surface.

Can I use my ramps to bridge a gap?
